Remember to include any activities and equipment hire in your initial enquiry. Our activities rely on volunteer instructors and can fill up quickly, so we recommend booking early.
Indoor accommodation
Enjoy the adventure of a woodland camp with the convenience of an indoor base. Squirrel Wood offers indoor group accommodation in Doncaster for Scout and Guide groups, schools and other organisations planning residential visits, training weekends and outdoor activities.
Our two buildings suit different group sizes. The Lodge provides space for larger groups to stay, share meals and gather for indoor activities. The Drey offers a smaller base for Explorer Scout Units, Scout Network groups, leader teams and other small groups.
Staying indoors keeps you close to the woodland, camping areas and activities while providing somewhere to cook, rest and spend time together. Whether you’re introducing young people to their first residential experience or bringing volunteers together for a planning weekend, you can build your stay around your group’s needs.

The Lodge
The Lodge
The Lodge is our largest indoor accommodation building at Squirrel Wood, offering a practical base for group residentials, Scout and Guide camps and training weekends in Doncaster.
Sleeping up to 39 people, it has two upstairs dormitories accommodating 18 people each and two accessible ground floor bedrooms sleeping one and two people. The ground floor bedrooms provide access to the main hall without using stairs.
The spacious main hall gives your group room for dining, indoor activities, briefings and relaxing together after a day outdoors. It also provides a useful space for adapting your programme when the weather changes.
A fully equipped kitchen makes catering for your group straightforward, with a large oven, microwave, preparation areas and kettles. Cutlery, pots, pans and cooking utensils are provided.
The Lodge has its own toilets and showers, including an accessible bathroom and shower area. With the woodland and campsite activities close by, your group can enjoy an outdoor adventure while returning to the convenience of an indoor base.

We offer tiered rates depending on your organisation and length of hire.
Evening: 4pm to 9pm

- Other Scout, Guide & Cadet Groups: £55 per evening
- External Organisations: £85 per evening
Day: 9am to 4pm

The Drey
The Drey
The Drey offers smaller groups their own indoor base at Squirrel Wood. It is ideal for Explorer Scout Units, Scout Network groups and leader teams looking for group accommodation in Doncaster.
With its own kitchen facilities and toilet, The Drey gives your group space to cater for yourselves and enjoy an independent stay, with easy access to the woodland and campsite activities.
Whether you’re planning a weekend residential, a volunteer planning session or a small group adventure, The Drey provides a simple, practical alternative to our larger accommodation.
Fees
We offer tiered rates depending on your organisation and length of hire.
Overnight: 4pm to 4pm the following day

Make the woodland your home for a night, a weekend or a longer adventure. Squirrel Wood offers outdoor camping in Doncaster for Scout and Guide groups, schools and other organisations, with over 20 campsites suited to different group sizes.
From small patrol camps to larger section and Group weekends, our camping areas give young people space to develop outdoor skills, build confidence and enjoy time together. Pitch your tents, cook outdoors and gather around the campfire after a day of activities.

Each campsite offers something different. Some have pit fires or trees suitable for your own hammocks, while others offer easier access or are closer to a water point.
Tell us about your group and what you have planned in the special requests section of your booking enquiry. Include any preferences, access requirements or requests to camp near another group so our team can help allocate a suitable site.

We offer tiered rates for evening, day and overnight visits, with discounts for local Scout and Guide groups. All prices are per person.

- Evening-only Visit: £1.00 per person
- Day Visit: £2.50 per person
- Overnight Visit: £3.60 per person
Other Scout, Guide & Cadet Groups
- Evening-only Visit: £1.10 per person
- Day Visit: £2.75 per person
