About Squirrel Wood
Squirrel Wood, the home of real backwoods, is a Scout Campsite situated in the rural North Doncaster village of Burghwallis in South Yorkshire.
Set in over 70 acres of natural woodland with many species of trees and an abundance of wildlife, Squirrel Wood is an excellent location for any camp. With indoor and outdoor accommodation and lots of activities available onsite and other attractions locally, you won’t be short of things to keep your group occupied.
Squirrel wood is a Scout campsite that is perfect for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers along with Brownies, Guides and Rangers.
The site is also available for other youth and school groups. We can cater for up to 1500 people including 40 in indoors in the Squirrel Lodge. This makes Squirrel Wood perfect for Group, District, County or even International camps.
Squirrel Wood is maintained by an army of volunteers who spend countless hours every week maintaining and improving the site.

Squirrel Wood History
Squirrel Wood was presented to Doncaster District Scouts in 1944 by Major Clarke. Camping started later in the year.
The milestone of 70 years of camping at Squirrel Wood was celebrated on the 11th to 13th September 2014 with a 1940’s themed birthday camp.
